A memorable morning at the Victoria Memorial
After a night out spent in watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S., reading stuff and in chatting, i set out at 5 AM outside the apartment in search of a cab. The early ray just gave a faint vision to notice a yellow rooftop of one of the Kolkata Taxis a bit outside the gate. “Ahh, lucky me..”, i thought finding a cab so close at this strange time. So i set off to see about what i read so much in the stupid history books back in school. Reaching there the cab took me all round the perimeter of the gardens to where the ticket counter was. Stepping outside, i saw it from a distance in utter awe. There it stood, the great Victoria Memorial shining its white marble off with all the pride it had earned during the years.Waiting for the ticket counter to open was pretty hard as the entrance was beckoning me to come and see the monument. And in no time, i was in
the magnificent gardens which stretch like a speckless green carpet all around Victoria. As i approached it, i felt a sense of hypnotism creeping in. With my eyes glued on it, i just didn’t know what else to do. It was as white as lamb’s fleece, carved with utmost perfection and maintained with utmost care and pride. The larger dome radiating a power which unknowingly was felt by all the morning joggers present there. I walked all along the paths which were lined with flowers all around and which merged into he greenery behind them. The cool breeze gently proved its presence. It was peaceful. For about an hour i just sat on the stairs infront of it just gazing at the marvel. The white colour amidst what felt likeĀ all the greenery in the world really induced the utmost levels of peace. Flushed away all the mess which had accumulated in my mind over the last few days… it was an amazing morning…one of the best early mornings ever…
Planning to visit St. Paul’s Cathedral sometime tomorrow
